How to batch-remove EXIF from JPEG photos

Use a private ZIP-based workflow to remove standard JPEG metadata across a photo collection.

Protecting privacy means knowing which information is hidden in a file or link, and confirming that the cleaned copy still works. Use this checklist as a starting point, not as a guarantee of anonymity.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. 01

Keep untouched originals in a separate folder before preparing a shared album.

  2. 02

Select at most 15 JPEG files, making sure none exceeds the per-file size limit.

  3. 03

Run the batch JPEG remover, read each per-file success or failure status and download the ZIP.

  4. 04

Extract the ZIP locally, open representative photos and verify color, orientation and image content.

  5. 05

Run the single-file metadata checker on a cleaned copy; repeat on all files when your privacy needs are high.

Before you share the result

Always inspect the output visually and verify it using a separate checker where possible. Metadata removal cannot remove identifiable objects, names, addresses, faces or text visible in pixels. Automated text redaction can miss irregular private values.

What this guide does not promise

There is no universal one-click guarantee that a file or link is anonymous. Different apps may add metadata when exporting, and some formats contain unsupported private fields. Use a specialized full-format tool if you need high-assurance removal.
